Aadhaar card

Your Aadhaar is the base document. Check that:

  • your name spelling matches your bank passbook,
  • your date of birth is correct (it decides your age eligibility: To be confirmed, check the official notice),
  • your address is in West Bengal, and
  • your mobile number is linked to Aadhaar (helpful for OTPs).

Correct any mistake at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra before applying.

Bank passbook and DBT

The money comes by Direct Benefit Transfer, so your bank account is critical:

  • It must be in your own name: not a joint account or a family member’s account.
  • It should be active (used at least once in the last year).
  • It should be linked (seeded) with Aadhaar for DBT. You can ask your bank branch to confirm this.

Photo and signature size rules (online form)

The portal shows the allowed format and maximum size next to each upload button. General rules that work for most West Bengal portals:

  • Format: JPG/JPEG for photos; PDF or JPG for documents (as the portal allows).
  • Photo: recent, colour, face clearly visible, plain light background, no cap or dark glasses.
  • Signature: sign in black or blue ink on white paper, crop closely.
  • File size: stay under the maximum shown. If your photo is too large, use your phone’s built-in “edit → resize” or take the photo at lower resolution.
  • Clarity: all four corners visible, no shadow, text readable.

For offline (paper) applications

  • Take photocopies of each document.
  • Self-attest each copy: sign and write the date.
  • Paste the photo in the box on the form (do not staple through the face).
  • Keep the originals with you in case officials want to see them.

Document verification

After you apply, officials verify your documents, sometimes by a home visit or by asking you to bring originals to the office. Keep your originals safe and your phone switched on. Your status may show “under verification” during this stage; see status check.
